Fundraising for Dog Guides

The year 2023 will start with the National Walk for the “Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides”.
Usually around May, we will be planning our walk, so look for further announcements.

We welcomed guides and their dogs, family and friends to support the Lions Foundation of Dog Guides Program and join Team Uxbridge & District Lions by joining our team.

Welcome to The Lions Art In The Park 2023 Silent Auction Raising Funds For Dog Guides

Many of our artists/artisans donate to our silent auction. All money raised during this auction goes to Dog Guides of Canada.

Last year, through generous donations from our artists, we were able to raise more than $3,000 for Dog Guides of Canada.

We also received a very generous one-time gift of over $72,000, plus over $4,000 raised through the annual “Walk for Dog Guides”, raising our contribution to Dog Guides to over $79,000.

Training a Dog Guide costs $35,000.

The Silent Auction allows the Lions to help people through the following programs:

Canine Vision for people who are blind or visually impaired

Hearing for people who are deaf or hard of hearing

Autism Assistance for children who have autism spectrum disorder

Service for people who have a physical or medical disability

Seizure Response for people who have epilepsy

Diabetic Alert for people who have diabetes with hypoglycemic unawareness

Facility Support for professional agencies assisting individuals in traumatic situations

Fostering a Guide Dog
Past President Bob Armitage recently stated, “Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides” remains my personal favourite cause”. I take every opportunity in conversations and through Facebook to share this wonderful program and its benefits to our community of Uxbridge. Give them a visit at www.dogguides.com. Consider fostering puppies in training, take each one for a year, you may find it is difficult to give the dog up after a year, but the difference the dog makes in the life of the recipient makes it all worthwhile. Perhaps you can foster a puppy too, we did; just check it out! www.dogguides.com
